Kris Temple is a web graphics designer, an ambitious entrepreneur striving to survive in a dog-eat-dog world. She also wants to win her family’s Christmas contest. She adorns herself in full holiday gear the night before thanksgiving and is flying home fully decorated. She's thrilled to find herself seated next to a handsome man. But Kris has a speech problem. However would she converse with this man without stuttering and embarrassing herself?
Aaron Masters is not thrilled to be flying economy, but his personal jet is in for repairs. He’d had to scurry to the reservation desk at the last minute to book a seat on the only flight out, and now he finds his practical, no-nonsense demeanor assaulted by a woman dressed as a holiday advertisement…his seatmate. How could he hope to ignore this woman for the entire flight?
With their flight being rerouted, calls from her ex-fiancé/co-worker pleading for assistance, and his ex-girlfriend stalking him, they are certainly in for a memorable flight.

High-Tech Holiday by Lorraine Nelson is a well-written, humorous and sweet short love story for the holidays.Kris is on a flight and going home for the holidays and she is determined win the family's Christmas contest with the prize being that she gets to play Santa and hand out the gifts to the children. Ethan is on the same flight heading for a charity ball that he cannot miss. Both of their journeys are interrupted by bad weather and a love connection is made. This is a short story, so I cannot give away more than this. But, suffice it to say that the story is a sweet Christmas tale that is sure to warm your heart this holiday season.
As a short story writer myself, I know all too well that short stories are very difficult to write - with a good beginning, middle and ending - and enough story to satisfy the reader. Ms. Nelson has achieved all of this in a very few number of pages. As a reader, I was completely satisfied - the story was the perfect length and had the perfect amount of detail.
I would recommend this to those who love short stories about love with a happy ending.

Very cute short story for the holidays!!
Had enough of everything to make you fall in love with the charters
Like all Christmas stories, this one is warm and feel-good. One thing to note, though, I don't know what happened in the synopsis, but the H is called Ethan, not Aaron.
Anyway! I'm also not sure why the synopsis calls attention to Kris's "speech problem". After the initial meeting with Ethan, the stutter disappears and doesn't make a reappearance in the rest of the story. I think the author was trying to show that Kris was comfortable with Ethan, so she stops stuttering once they start up a conversation, but it didn't quite work for me. It was like, one moment she's stuttering, and the next she's not. As if there were an 'on' and 'off' switch.
The other problem I had with the plot is that much is made of the way Kris is dressed -- all decked up in holiday-themed gear because she wants to win the annual family contest of who has the most holiday spirit. Yet when she finally arrives at her family's home, there's no description of what the others are wearing, to give us an idea of why she felt she had to go all-out that way. It's played up in the first part of the book, then suddenly dropped in the second half, with no resolution other than to tell us who won the contest. The way Kris reacts to the outcome of the contest also seems a bit extreme and out of character.
I liked that Kris is a strong, independent woman, successful at her own business, and Ethan recognises and respects her for that. I also like that Ethan overcomes his initial distaste and prejudice, which was based on the way she was dressed. He came across as a bit of a snob in the beginning, but I forgave him for it when he allowed himself to acknowledge there was more to Kris than met the eye and let himself get to know the real her.
The incidents with both exes - especially Ethan's ex - were a little melodramatic and over the top. Could have been handled better. The ending was rushed; it felt like the author was in a hurry to get to the finish line. I would have liked to have seen more interactions between Ethan and Kris, especially when they got back to "normal" life after Thanksgiving. Instead, we were simply told that Ethan wined and dined Kris. I felt like I'd been cheated of a chance to see their relationship develop further and watch them fall deeper in love. This left me with a vague sense of dissatisfaction after reaching the end of the story, even though there is a HEA.
3-3.5 stars
This was an enjoyable Christmas short story. I liked both Aaron and Kris. Their story was short (the description pretty much covers it) but it was nice and festive and ends with Aaron and Kris heading towards a HEA together. )
* note - The hottest this story gets is some kissing. This is the first story I've read by this author and I liked it well enough that I'd probably try more of her work in the future.
As I was reading the story, it reminded me of one of those Hallmark movies, where a couple falls in love during Christmas.
Ethan Masters is a millionaire who's flying home on an economy flight. Although not happy with his flight plans, everything works out for the best when he's seated next to Kris Temple. At first, Ethan's put off by her holiday grab, but throughout their trip, they get to know each other and Ethan finds himself falling for her.
The story is sweet and filled with humor, the scene where Ethan first sees Kris decked out in a lighted holiday sweater if hilarious. I loved how Kris was a successful web designer and confident when it comes to business, yet she also has a quirky side. Ethan at the beginning came across as a bit of a snob, but as he spends time with Kris his attitude begins to change and he finds himself able to enjoy the holidays.
My one flaw I had with the story is the ending went by a little two fast. I would've liked to have seen more interaction with Ethan and Kris's family, maybe have her father and brothers interrogate him. I also would've loved a scene where Ethan introduces Kris to his family.
If you're a romance reader looking for a cute Christmas story, then check out High-Tech Holiday.
